Building a fully customizable/scalable/automated pipeline to prepare and refine official publicly available datasets from mature Oil and Gas major fields, and perform Visual Exploration and Quantitative Descriptive Analytics.

Solutions like this are relevant for the O&G Industry because the actionable insight extracted from SILOED and/or public not fully exploited datasets is an opportunity for any field operator to generate REVENUE in the short term with REDUCED investment costs.

These analytics solutions could be further customized and used as a SCOUTING TOOL, to quickly assess the potential of Oil/Gas blocks placed up for bid; or to be used, for example, to evaluate a company’s own assets and optimize investing budgets; among other important practical applications.

Description

Use this reference implementation, to learn how an official publicly available dataset that comprises well basic data, and oil, gas, water productions, etc., of more than 40 THOUSAND wells from mature Oil and Gas major fields in Argentina, is refined and used to perform Advanced Visual Analytics.

The pipeline has been implemented in the Google Cloud Platform. It uses Trifacta Cloud Dataprep (to prepare, refine and blend the data), BigQuery/Cloud Storage, and Cloud Functions; the latest to trigger the required data preparation job via API when new data is available. Up-to-day results are published in BigQuery or Cloud Storage, where they are directly connected from Google Data Studio to perform Visual Exploration and Quantitative Descriptive Analytics. The refined/blended data could also be connected with Tableau Online or another BI solution, to build more Advanced Visualizations and deeper exploration. Or, be connected with the R language ecosystem to also perform Predictive and/or Prescriptive Analytics. Or be used in other practical applications.
